The
CeltHix

The Celthix is a group of
musicians that draws its energy from the roots of American Folk music. From its
origin in the British Isles and the mountains of Appalachia to the contemporary
Folk music of the 20th century, The Celthix' music pays tribute to those who
have gone before them. The songs that the group plays span hundreds of years and
tell the story of
the people who live in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia and their ancestors
from Scotland and Ireland. From its beginning, the band has gotten a very warm
reception playing to audiences accustomed to bluegrass music. As Celtic music is
one of the direct "ancestors" of bluegrass, folks who have never heard it seem
to understand The Celthix' blend of Scots/Irish and Mountain music almost
"instinctively.” The band's goal is to help others experience the stories these
songs tell and have fun in the process! In their first year together, The
Celthix experienced a "dream come true" when they played two shows with legends
of Scottish Folk music, The Tannahill Weavers. Along with The Chieftains and The
Battlefield Band, The Tannahill Weavers are largely responsible for introducing
Celtic music to an International audience and for its ever-increasing popularity
worldwide. To be able to share the stage with musicians of this caliber and
importance was an honor The Celthix will never forget. Click on the image above
